  • Del Mar College-West Campus FEMA dome 4101 Old Brownsville Road Corpus Christi, TX, 78405 United States (map)

The City of Corpus Christi has opened a second overnight Cold Weather Refuge Center for those needing food and a warm place to stay. The Center is at the Del Mar College-West Campus FEMA dome, located at 4101 Old Brownsville Road. It will remain open around the clock through Friday, January 24 or until the “feels-like” temperature rises above 32 degrees.

The Cold Weather Refuge Center located at 3202 Cabaniss Parkway continues to operate but is near capacity. The city is providing meals, and The Salvation Army is providing snacks and drinks at both locations.

The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) continues providing free transportation to and from the Cold Weather Refuge Centers through 11:00 p.m.

Riders can take Route 16 from the N. Staples Street bus station across from City Hall to the front door of the Del Mar College-West Campus FEMA dome.

Riders can also take a dedicated bus from the N. Staples Street bus station across from City Hall to the front door of the Corpus Christi Gym Cold Weather Refuge Center.

Alternately, a rider can take Route 15 to the Carroll High School bus stop at the Saratoga Boulevard and Kostoryz Road intersection. From there, CCRTA has a dedicated shuttle to transport riders to the front door of the Center.

CCRTA services will continue until 11:00 p.m.

Riders using either CCRTA service can bring their pets as long as they are secured. For more information, go to https://www.ccrta.org.

The Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) will also provide transportation to daytime warming centers, the cold weather refuge centers, and homeless shelters. To arrange transport, call CCPD Non-Emergency Police at (361) 886-2600.
