Arrests Made in Recent Homicide

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - At 4:46 PM on Monday, February 13, 2023, officers were dispatched to 4900 block of Ayers in reference to a shooting. All involved parties had left the scene prior to officers arrival. Officers investigated and were able to locate a crime scene at the location.

A short time later a shooting victim arrived at a local hospital. The 19-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital by a third party, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Through their investigation, Homicide Detectives followed up on several leads and were able to identify two suspects. On Monday, February 13, 2023, Detectives were able to secure an arrest warrant for 39-year-old Benjamin Peña for Murder ($500,000 Bond) and for 18-year-old Devin Peña for Murder ($500,000).

At approximately 10:54 am on Thursday, February 16, 2023, Officers with the US Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force gathered information on the whereabouts of Benjamin Peña and Devin Peña. Officers assigned to our Directed Patrol Unit assisted by conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of Cosner and Mahan and were able to take both males into custody, without incident.

Benjamin Peña And Devin Peña were transported to the main station to be interviewed and were later transported to the City Detention Center for processing.
