BISHOP, TEXAS (News Release) - On Friday, January 31, 2025, The Bishop Police Department Shift II Patrol Officers assisted Nueces County Precinct Five Constable Deputies, Texas DPS Troopers, and Robstown PD Officers as they attempted to stop a speeding Camaro coming into Robstown from Corpus Christi on TX Hwy 44.

23-year-old Aaron Hernandez of Robstown

As law enforcement officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver turned off his lights and evaded arrest by proceeding onto U.S. Highway 77 at a high rate of speed, at which point a dangerous and lengthy vehicle pursuit ensued. Eventually, the suspect vehicle entered the city limits of Bishop.

A Bishop Police Department officer was able to use a tire deflation device to safely bring the pursuit to an end at the Kleberg County Line.

The driver, later identified as 23-year-old Aaron Hernandez of Robstown, was arrested for felony evading arrest using a vehicle and unlawfully carrying a weapon after a loaded 9mm handgun was located in the vehicle.

Hernandez admitted to also evading a Corpus Christi Police Department officer earlier in the evening and has additional criminal charges pending from that incident.

The Bishop Police Department remains committed to assisting our partner law enforcement agencies and working to safely and quickly end vehicle pursuits and prosecute any individuals who engage in this dangerous behavior.
