Crime Wave in Corpus Christi may be Related to One Suspect

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - At approximately 3:06 pm Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a shooting at Elizabeth and Brownlee. Updates provided that the shooting took place at a residence on the 1600 block of Elizabeth. The victim then ran to a nearby store for help. Upon arrival, Officers located a 39-year-old male who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition.
At approximately 3:34 PM Officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of South Padre Island Drive, reference a possible shooting at a business. Officers quickly arrived and determined it was not an active shooter.
Preliminary information is that an employee arrived at a business and was involved in a disturbance with another employee. It quickly escalated and the suspect shot the victim and fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It can be confirmed that this was an isolated incident between two parties, known to each other.
At approximately 3:41 pm officers were dispatched to 5100 block of SPID for a bank robbery. Updates to the call provided that a male entered the business, displayed a weapon and demanded money from the teller. The suspect was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
A CCPD Officer observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect from the shooting on the 5400 block of SPID. The vehicle was observed in the area of N. Staples and Leopard. The officer effected a traffic stop and the suspect was taken into custody at approximately 4:21 PM.
There were three separate incidents that occurred within a short time frame. They are all being investigated independently with the possibility that they may be related to the same suspect.
