Crime Stoppers Needs Your Help to Solve Crime

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - At approximately 6:50 am on Monday, October 31, 2022, officers were dispatched to the 5800 block of Williams for an unknown man down.

Upon arrival, officers located a 46-year-old deceased male. It was determined that the male died from injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. Through their investigation, Homicide Detectives followed up on several leads and were able to identify a possible suspect. The male identified as 31-year-old Roman Vargas had three outstanding warrants for: Federal Probation Violation (No Bond), Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm by Felon ($25,000 Bond) and Possession of Controlled Substance PG-1 ($1,000 Bond).

At approximately 3:45 pm on Monday, October 31, 2022, Officers with the US Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, along with Officers assigned to our Gang Unit and Patrol Division located and took Vargas into custody on the 5100 block of I-37, without incident.

Vargas was transported to the main police station to be interviewed. Homicide Detectives were able to secure an additional warrant for Vargas for Murder with a $1,000,000 Bond.

Vargas was later transported to the City Detention Center for processing.
