City now Offering Free Public Health & Wellness Screenings

CORPUS CHRISTI – (News Release) The Corpus Christi – Nueces County Public Health District’s 1115 Waiver and Community Health Clinic will be offering health and wellness screenings and COVID-19 vaccinations to the public as part of its community outreach campaign at City Hall beginning on Wednesday, March 23. These free screenings will be available every Wednesday through April.

As part of these screenings, staff will be giving away a free fitness tracker as a grand prize to one lucky participant who receives a free health screening that day. Health and wellness screenings will start at 8:30 a.m. and go through noon at City Hall located at 1201 Leopard Street.

The free Health and Wellness Screening will consist of the following:

  • Diabetes- A1C Test

  • Blood Pressure

  • Body Mass Index

The 1115 Waiver Program promotes healthy living and choices for all Nueces County residents. We provide services such as Diabetes Prevention and Patient Navigator Services that assist the public with diabetes self-management education and other diabetes-related issues.

The Community Health Clinic offers low-cost wellness exams that screen for diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, breast, cervical, and prostate cancer. The City of Corpus Christi encourages public outreach and free health and wellness screenings to the public as an example of the Health Districts' commitment to our community.
