Funding of Facility Construction and Capital Improvements

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The Corpus Christi City Council approved the publication of a Notice of Intention to issue up to $21,000,000 in certificates of obligation bonds to fund facility construction and capital improvements approved in the Fiscal Year 2022 Capital Improvement Budget.
The City Council adopted a Capital Improvement Budget with $18,014,500 in projects that were to be funded with certificates of obligation.
Those projects include:
Improvements to Solid Waste facilities
Parks & Recreation Warehouse Facility
Citywide Library facility improvements
The new Police Training Academy
Improvements to the City Hall including skylight replacement and HVAC improvements
An additional project for improvements to the Health Department building was identified after the Capital Improvement Budget was approved. A total of $2,000,000 will be added to the amount to be issued for a total of $20,014,500 in projects.
The next step will take place at the June 14 Council meeting where the City Council will vote to authorize the issuance of the bonds.
