Good Samaritans Recognized in Water Rescue

Good Samaritans Recognized in Water Rescue

Aransas Pass Police Department

ARANSAS PASS (News Release) - On the evening of Saturday, September 7, 2024, a visitor from San Antonio and her two children were leaving Conn Brown Harbor. The driver later reported that her GPS directed her to turn right down a boat launch. She followed those directions and found her vehicle floating into the harbor.

Seeing what had taken place, five Good Samaritans sprang into action. The men immediately took to the water, swam to the sinking SUV, and worked to gain entry through one of the windows. After much effort, the men were able to break through a sunroof and pull the two small children and their mother out, helping them get to shore where others were waiting to assist.

Four out of five of these men were identified.

At the regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council in Aransas Pass, the four were formally recognized for their heroic actions.

Had it not been for their selfless efforts that evening, the outcome of this event would likely have been different.
