CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department has initiated a Gulf Beach Maintenance Project along the seawall at Whitecap Beach. This four-day project will take place from Tuesday, February 4, to Friday, February 7, and will operate daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Excess sand will be redistributed from the northern and southern ends of the Packery Channel Jetty to the natural erosion-prone area in front of the seawall. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Texas General Land Office have approved this project.

“Beach renourishment helps to restore and protect our beaches from eroding,” said Robert Dodd, Parks & Recreation Department Director. “Adding sand along the seawall will safeguard valuable areas along our waterfront.”

Beach Operations staff will ensure the safe escort of heavy equipment trucks to and from the beach. Beach visitors should remain vigilant and exercise caution around equipment and work crews operating along the seawall.
