Homicide Investigation in Kingsville

Kingsville, TEXAS (News Release) – On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the Kingsville Police Department (KPD) responded to a 911 call at 8:49 p.m. reporting shots fired and an individual down at 1644 Connelvilla Rd. Officers were dispatched at 8:50 PM and quickly arrived, where they located an individual identified as Thomas Moore, 44, outside a window of the residence, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Kingsville paramedics transported Mr. Moore to Christus Spohn Hospital Kingsville, where he succumbed to his injuries. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Detectives are pursuing all leads to gather a complete understanding of the events surrounding this tragedy. A firearm believed to be associated with the incident has been recovered from the scene. At the time of the incident, the residence was occupied. Desmond Jones, 38, was identified as a person of interest and taken into custody. Jones is cooperating with the homicide investigation.

Jones has been arrested on unrelated outstanding city warrants and charged for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. His bond for the outstanding warrants is set at $479.00. As of this release, bond has not yet been set for the firearm-related charge, as he has not appeared before a magistrate. The Kingsville Police Department has no information to indicate there is any further threat to the community.
