Officer Involved Shooting in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - On April 20, 2024, at 12:32 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Burnham Dr. in reference to a male and female involved in a disturbance with shots fired.
Officers arrived at the apartments where they attempted to locate the disturbance. The responding officers located the disturbance and made contact with a 26-year-old male at the door of the apartment. As soon as officers contacted the suspect, a struggle ensued.
The male suspect produced a gun, shooting and striking one of the officers.
One of the assisting officers returned fire, striking the male who succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The officer was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition at this time.
