CORPUS CHRISTI – (News Release) At a City Council meeting on April 26th, the Parks & Recreation Department was joined by consulting firm HALFF Associates to provide the Council with the final briefing on the new proposed 10-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan and the Bill Witt Park Master Plan. The proposed documents will serve as guides for the growth and enhancement of City parks, public grounds, open spaces, and recreational assets.

HALFF Associates utilized valuable information gathered from stakeholders during the community engagement phase to develop plans that will improve our recreational resources. This final briefing precedes the presentation to adopt the new 10-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan which will be presented to City Council on Tuesday, May 10.

The City’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee received the 10 Year Parks Master Plan and Bill Witt Park Master Plan during the regular monthly meeting on April 13, 2022. The board, chaired by Alissa Mejia, provided their input on the plans and was incorporated in the final draft documents presented to City Council today.  

“The updated 10-year Master Plan is a key in planning for the improvement and enhancements to all 187 city parks,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “Parks are an important amenity of any city and contribute to the quality of life of its residents.”
