Drive by Shooting in Kingsville Leads to Arrest at Bishop Motel

BISHOP (News Release) - Bishop Police Department Shift II Patrol Officers along with Nueces County Constable Precinct 3 Deputies were dispatched to the area of U.S. Highway 77 and E. 4th street, in Bishop, Texas, to attempt to locate a suspect in a drive by shooting, which occurred in Kingsville, Texas.

Officers located the suspect vehicle a short time later, in the parking lot of the American Best Value Inn, located at 715 S. U.S. Highway 77, in Bishop, Texas.

The suspect, 20 year old Leonardo Paiz was observed leaving a hotel room at that location and taken into custody without incident. A second adult male was located inside the room and was detained for investigative purposes, identified and later released on scene.

Kingsville Police Department officers responded to the scene to follow up on their investigation of the drive by shooting.

The suspect vehicle was found to have bullet holes in the windshield, which were suspected to have been caused by the suspect during the shooting and a gun was observed in plain sight inside the vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded on scene as evidence.

Paiz was found to have narcotics in his possession and was arrested and later transported to the Nueces County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Additional criminal charges will be filed by the Kingsville PD for the original offense, which occurred in their jurisdiction.
