CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — (News Release) Brett Oetting, President and CEO of Visit Corpus Christi (VCC), has submitted his resignation effective October 31. Oetting joined VCC in March 2020 after serving in the same role in Topeka, Kansas.
The City contracts with VCC for destination management services and provides funding through the City of Corpus Christi Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) paid by visitors who stay overnight in hotels and short-term rentals. In FY2025, $6.7M has been budgeted for this service.
Last month, the Corpus Christi City Council approved a five-year contract extension with the organization, expressing confidence in the VCC team and services.
The Corpus Christi City Council appoints the 13-member VCC Board of Directors, which serves two-year terms beginning each October. The board also includes a 6-member Executive Committee that includes Mayor Paulette Guajardo and City Manager Peter Zanoni. The Board will name an interim and select a firm to search nationwide for a new President/CEO.
The City of Corpus Christi appreciates Visit Corpus Christi's positive impact on increasing tourism and promoting the City. It is committed to this partnership, which strives to make Corpus Christi a premier tourism destination.
